NEEDS OF SUBIC BAY CHILDREN'S HOME
Priority #1 Mitsubishi Van— The children would have many more oppurtunities to go places if transportation did not have to be rented. More reliable transportation is needed.
Needed $10,500 Goal Achieved 2010
Priority # 2 New Kitchen—The present kitchen is built of bamboo and a coconut grass roof. The building is in poor condition and needs to be replaced. A new two-story dining hall with a walk-in freezer and cooler will be built in its place.
Needed $60,000 Received $0.00
Priority #3 New School and Library—A good, Christian-based education is an important part of what we do here at SBCH. The building currently used for our school is a make-shift building covered with a vinyl canvas. The $125,000 will build and furnish a new two-story school building. SCHOOL PLANS
Needed $125,000 Received $0.00
Priority #4 Reserve Water Tanks — Three water tanks are needed for three of the buildings due to limited water supply throughout the year. Water demand is so high at times in the Philippines that the water is rationed. Having no water shuts down the kitchen and bathrooms.
Needed $2,100 Received $0.00
Priority #5 Backup Generator—Especially in the rainy season there are many power outages. A generator will keep food from spoiling and give power to the dorms, school, and kitchen.
Needed $6,486 Goal Achieved 2009
Priority #6 Worker Bonus— Most workers in the Philippines work 6 or 7 days a week with an average pay of $5.00 a day with no vacation, retirement, sick days, 401K, etc. Our goal is to raise $50 for each of the 18 employees to encourage them in their work at the children’s home.
Needed $800 Goal Achieved 2008
Goal Achieved 2009
Priority #7 Medical Fund—A fund is needed for medical emergencies. Also, some of the children need dental work and braces. Tuberculosis and lice are a constant battle. Manny, the boy in the picture above, was one of the children that came to SBCH recently as a result of another orphanage closing. Manny has severely deformed legs and feet. A doctor told him that it was too late to do anything about his deformity. A fund is needed so other children won’t suffer the same situation.
Needed $3,000 Received $1,000
Priority #8 Retaiing Wall—A retaining wall is needed in one section because the dirt is washing away.
